As we get nearer and nearer to the start of the 2017 baseball season, we wanted to take this opportunity to give all of you some important information.
1. Bumblebee Team Store -CLOSES THURSDAY NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT!
This season we will be using Bumblebee Team Sports for our uniform and team store needs. We signed a contract with Adidas for the next four seasons that will save us a considerable amount of money on uniforms and player goods. Because of this, everyone needs to wait on purchasing cleats, pants, etc. until the team store is open. The team store is going to offer baseball pants (players will either be buying one pair or two, based on level of play--cost will be $30 per pair), team cleats (at a drastically reduced cost) and all of the previously offered items from BSN. Here is a link to the team store letter. Please read the bottom of the letter for final information about required purchases.
**Final note on cleats. It is not required that players buy new cleats this season, but IF the player does get new cleats, they need to be the team cleats offered on the team store. Any NEW cleats purchased that are not the team cleats will not be acceptable. (I am getting this information out now to beat the surge of expensive cleat purchases that usually occurs in late January!) So put simply--either last year's cleats or Adidas team cleats will be acceptable this season as we transition to Adidas.
We have many new players (and families) joining the program this season, so I wanted to share information about the ways that we communicate information. While we use this website for the storage of more detailed information, we primarily use Twitter (@daviessbaseball) and Remind to send out information to both players and parents. It has become increasingly difficult for us to be certain that announcements are made (and heard) at both middle schools and the high school, so these are easy ways for us to communicate. If you are a player that needs to join Remind, click this link and go sign up for both Baseball Players (all players) and your level(s) of play. If you are a parent that needs to join, click here.
3. Parent Meeting
Our parent meeting is TENTATIVELY set for Wednesday, March 1 at 6:00 in the cafeteria here at DCHS. (Depends on the schedule of the Regional Basketball Tournament.) The meeting will be very short (i.e. 20-25 minutes); we will quickly cover information that must be covered heading into the season while also doing some needed housekeeping (Fan t-shirt sales, required form collection, concessions sign-up, etc.) Coach Hurley also plans to be here with season passes for sale. Speaking of the shirts that we will have this season, here is the design of the fan shirts:
We will have about 45 of the gray shirts available at the parent meeting. If you would like the red shirt (or either shirt in long sleeve), email me at firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday with your order and we will try to have those ready for the meeting as well (if not at meeting, we should have them available before next weekend). Short sleeve=$12, long sleeve=$15.
4. Discount Cards
We will be completing the discount card fundraiser again this season. We have more discounts available than ever before on our card, which we believe will continue to make the card a worthwhile purchase for the supporters that help us out. The cost will remain $20 and we are setting the player fair-share amount at 25 cards, meaning that each player will need to sell 25 cards. By reaching this amount, we will be able to pay for all of the new hats and jerseys at all levels, get a new roll-up cage for the field, minimize the cost of the FL trip for players and families (cost of trip will be determined after fundraiser), and finalize plans for field renovation beginning in late June. As you can see, it is important that we reach our fair-share amount so that we can pay for these items for our players. By letting you know now, we hope that players and families may be able contact potential buyers in advance to lessen the burden of fundraising. We are thankful for the continued support of this fundraiser, which has been huge for our program for several years.
**We will still have individual and team prizes and incentives for players this year as well, so there will definitely be a benefit to selling more than the fair-share of 25!
5. Ad Signs
The other fundraiser that we will be completing this season will be ad signs. If any of you know of a business that is interested in supporting our baseball program this season, please do not hesitate to let us know.
We wanted to make sure to get this information out as early as possible so that our families could know what to expect early in the season. Hopefully, this will make things easier in mid-February!
