It is doubtful that we could have been much more unlucky with the weather this week. Seeing the way the week has played out, we probably should have played as much as we could on Tuesday (scheduled off day). At that point, I didn't think it was fair to take back a day that had been promised as an off day for players and families, but it might be worse to get everyone down here for what appears to be FOUR total games.
FOUR. When all is said and done, it looks like we are going to get two varsity games and two JV games. As you know, our original Thursday schedule had us playing JV/V @ Niceville High School tomorrow; as it stands now, the tournament director has moved our V game to 4 pm and taken our JV game there to clear for a V game for another school ("varsity make-up games get priority"). To make up for this move, he is going to try to put our JV guys in another team's spot at a different field tomorrow (Choctaw at 3 pm vs. Somerset).
To make matters worse, it seems as though there is no real option for making anything else up, no matter how flexible we try to be. The director initially told me that we could try to play on Friday morning to get at least a couple more games in but almost immediately went back on that because no umpires could be available for those games.
V vs. Niceville (Niceville @ 4 pm)
Arrive at Field--2:30
Uniform--Red Top, Gray Pants
JV vs. Somerset (Choctaw @ 3pm)
Arrive at Field--2 pm
Uniform-Red Top, Gray Pants
I am hoping to get something worked out with the tournament director to get a refund for at least part of the games that we have missed. I am not optimistic that this will happen based on previous experience with this organization, but this is a much different situation than ones we have faced in the past, so there may be a shot. IF we recover any of it, it will be distributed back to our families. It will only be a drop in the bucket for what our families have spent this week, but it will be something, nonetheless.
I know our JV guys have really been shorted so far this year. We are going to do whatever we can to get those guys on the field as much as possible for the rest of the season.
Thank you for everything you do.
